The importance of GRACE
In closing this discussion, I want to say a very clear word about setting goals for our children. This framework is just that - a framework, not a formula. It is not a promise, nor is it a guarantee. It gives some guidance for how we can effectively focus our children's learning at different stages, especially spiritually, and what we can expect of them – often, more than we realize! It is one way to plan your time in these precious years in order to create a home atmosphere that is conducive to raising our children in the paideia and nouthesia of the Lord. For those who are committed to public or private education rather than homeschooling, perhaps it can help you think through the aspects of your child’s academic and spiritual growth that are not being covered, or parts that you need to be on guard about in their current learning environment.
We are called to be faithful with the children God has trusted to us, cultivating an environment that is conducive for healthy spiritual growth to take place. But all growth is from God, and is of grace, including our own.
Enjoy these years as the precious treasure they are, and ask God to clearly lead you. Then step back and see what He does, in you and in your children!
